How to Give Rewards for Punctuality

It is perfectly acceptable to bribe children to behave. In civilized society, this is called rewarding good behavior. One the characteristics you want to develop in children, and in adults, is the ability to be punctual. A total reward package can consist of many things, but you want to make sure it is something that the child or employee will appreciate and want to achieve.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask. Come right out and ask people what it would take to get them to be punctual. It may be recognition or food or extra privileges. The main thing is to find out what will work with your child or employee.

    • 2

Give rewards sparingly and only when the person has met all the deadlines you've imposed. Like any other form of discipline, the positive rewards system must be consistent and reliable.

    • 3

Present the total reward in a timely manner. After all, it is punctuality you are rewarding; you cannot be late with the reward. A total reward package works best when administered closely following the successful completion of the deadlines you agreed upon.

    • 4

Make sure other employees or classmates view the presentation of the reward to make them want to achieve the same goal. Use successful punctuality recipients as examples of how your system works. The rewards should act sufficiently as a carrot for others to want to receive the same prizes.

    • 5

Stick to your total reward system and allow late students and employees to suffer their own consequences without imposing additional punishments for lateness.
