Livestrong bracelets are sold to raise money for cancer research by the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This foundation also helps people fight their battle with cancer by offering information and services to cancer patients and survivors. Unfortunately, counterfeit bracelets are being produced and sold, and the proceeds are not going to the foundation. Here are some ways to ensure that the bracelet you buy is an authentic Livestrong bracelet so you too can help the cause.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Buy from an official retailer. To ensure the authenticity of your bracelet, purchase it from the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) official website or from one of the official retailers. These retailers include Niketown, Nike Outlet, Nikewoman, Build-a-Bear stores, Discovery Channel Stores and United Grocery Stores in Texas. Other retailers may sell authentic Livestrong bracelets. If you decide to purchase your bracelet from a retailer, other than those mentioned above, ask the retailer if the proceeds go to the LAF. If they do not know, then it is not an authentic Livestrong bracelet.
Step2
Check to make sure the color of the bracelet is yellow. Livestrong bracelets are only made in yellow. Any other color is not authentic.
Step3
Verify the packaging. Livestrong wristbands come in three types of packaging, which include: Packaging with the Nike logo and information about the LAF, packaging with information about the LAF and no Nike logo, and clear cellophane packaging with no information or logos.
Step4
Contact the LAF. If you have any questions as to the authenticity of a Livestrong bracelet or if you believe that someone is selling counterfeit Livestrong bracelets, contact the LAF.
