Once you've tasted fresh pineapple you won't want to buy it in a can. Cut fresh pineapple into bite-size pieces and enjoy it as a snack or added to drinks and stir-fry. They are easy to cut, if you know process.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large serrated knife
  • Small paring knife
  1. Step 1

Find a large sharp knife with a serrated edge that will slice through your pineapple with ease. Place the pineapple on a cutting board.

  2. Step 2

Turn the pineapple on its side. Hold the top leaves with one hand and slice off the top with the other. Throw away the top piece.

  3. Step 3

Stand the remaining pineapple upright. Use the large knife to slice straight down the center of the pineapple so the pineapple is cut completely in half.

  4. Step 4

Place half of the pineapple on its side, flat side up. Slice down the center lengthwise. Repeat with the other half of the pineapple so that you now have four pieces.

  5. Step 5

Remove the white core from the center of the pineapple by standing up the pineapple piece and cutting lengthwise down the length of the core. Discard the core. Repeat with the remaining three pieces of pineapple.

  6. Step 6

Take one section of pineapple and lay it round side down. Slice the section into slices and set aside. Repeat for the remaining three sections of pineapple.

  7. Step 7

Remove the prickly skin from each slice using a small paring knife. Cut as close to the skin as possible. Discard the skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Refrigerate the pineapple pieces for longer keeping.
  • Peel the pineapple first if you want round slices instead of pieces.
  • Watch your fingers when removing the skin.
