Google provides many useful web tools that visitors can use for free. For website owners, one of the most valuable services is Google Analytics. Once a website is entered into the system, Google Analytics gives back detailed site traffic reports. Take advantage of this service by entering your website into their system.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find the Google Analytics site. Type "analytics" into the Google search bar and the engine will direct you to the site.

  2. Step 2

Sign in with your Google account information. Before you can add a website, you need to either register with Google or use your email address and password to log in to your Google account.

  3. Step 3

Click the "Sign Up" button to add your website to Google Analytics. If you wish to see how the service works before providing your site information, select "Take the Tour" from the main menu.

  4. Step 4

Provide the website URL, account name and time zone. After you hit "Continue," you are asked to give your contact information. You must then agree to the terms of service created by Google Analytics.

  5. Step 5

Copy the code given onto your site's pages. As soon as the code is installed on the webpages, Google Analytics can provide tracking information.

  6. Step 6

View your reports at any time. Sign in to the Google Analytics site to see your tracking reports. Reports include site visits, time on page and bounce rate.

Tips & Warnings
  • After you get the code for tracking your website, you can check the Google Analytics report for installation status.
