Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Find a nonprofit environmental organization that is willing to give a presentation to local groups concerning the importance of electronic recycling.
Step2
Get your local elementary school or church youth group involved in a community-wide electronic recycling day, and encourage people to deposit their old cell phones, computers and other electronic equipment.
Step3
Write an editorial to your local paper urging community members to take unusable electronics to a solid waste facility. Many solid waste facilities collect hazardous wastes, including old consumer electronics, and can dispose of them properly or recycle their parts.
Step4
Evaluate the condition of your electronic device before tossing it in the garbage or purchasing a new one. Consider donating your old radio to a charitable organization if it is still in working condition. Pass down your cell phone to your teenager if you decide to buy a new one. Take your television in for service before kicking it to the curb.
