The twisting front loop in skydiving is the same move as a twisting front layout, a skill more commonly used in gymnastics. The key to skydiving training is breaking the moves down and mastering the steps individually before you combine them into an elite skill. Read on to learn how to do that with a twisting front loop.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin at the end of a trampoline and face the opposite end so you have the entire length to work with. Jump to get enough air to complete the move.

  2. Step 2

Throw your hands up and forward and keep your eyes on your fingers. This will help you rotate your body, as your body will follow your head. Complete a front flip.

  3. Step 3

Keep your body, and especially your back, as straight as possible without bending at the hips. Flip using a whipping motion. Master this segment of the skill before you add the twist.

  4. Step 4

Twist your hip and shoulder in the same direction as to begin the layout. Make sure you twist the hip and shoulder in unison to rotate smoothly. The harder you twist, the more revolutions you'll complete. Once you can easily land this skill, start your skydiving training.

  5. Step 5

Learn to control your body while in the air. Use the same techniques you learned on a trampoline, including the landing, to achieve crisp movements.

Tips & Warnings
  • Master each skill on a trampoline before you attempt it while skydiving. If you're not familiar with training on a trampoline, use safety wires to prevent falls and injuries.
