The BOSU Balance Trainer is a great piece of equipment to create variety in your cardiovascular training routine. The BOSU requires the body to incorporate balance into even the easiest of movements. The BOSU looks like half of a stability ball placed onto a solid black plastic disc so that you can place it on the ground. Here are some ways to integrate the balance trainer with your cardiovascular workout.

  1. Step 1

    Obtain clearance from your doctor before starting any type of exercise routine. These steps will give you information about exercises that you may need to avoid depending on your level of physical fitness.

  2. Step 2

    Warm up the muscles of the body prior to doing any type of strenuous workout, to lower the risk of injury .

  3. Step 3

    Perform all BOSU cardio training exercises slowly in the beginning while you get used to the equipment. This will minimize the times you need to step off due to lack of balance.

  4. Step 4

    Place the BOSU on the floor with the blue dome side up for cardiovascular training. This will allow you to jump and exercise while you engage the muscles of the core and lower body needed to balance.

  5. Step 5

    Stand on the floor and run up and down the BOSU and jump onto and off the BOSU to increase your heart rate and strengthen your cardiovascular system.

  6. Step 6

    Jump on the top of the BOSU as well as from side to side doing various types of moves, such as squats and lunges, to both strengthen the muscles and improve balance for strength and cardiovascular training.
