How to Make Dumpling Dim Sum
Dumpling dim sum are small Chinese dumplings that are filled with a delectables and either fried or steamed. Dim sum dumplings can be filled with any type of meat; pork and shrimp are common fillings. They may look complicated, but they're actually easily made in your own kitchen. Things You'll Need
- ½ lb. ground pork, lean is best
- ¼ cup peeled and minced shrimp
- ¼ cup green onions, minced
- ¼ cup chicken broth
- ½ cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp. sherry
- 1 ½ tsp. ginger root, peeled and minced
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch plus 2 tsp. cornstarch, divided
- 32 wonton wrappers
- Steamed cabbage leaves

Combine the ground pork, shrimp, green onions, chicken broth, water chestnuts, sherry, ginger root, salt, and 1 tbsp. cornstarch in a medium mixing bowl. Stir the mixture well.

Spoon about 1 tbsp. of filling onto the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wonton with water and bring two corners together, forming a triangle. Pinch the edges securely to seal.

Sprinkle 2 tsp. cornstarch on a large baking sheet and place the dumplings on the sheet. Put a towel loosely over the top to keep the dumplings moist.

Line the bottom and sides of a bamboo steamer with cabbage leaves. Put the dumplings in the steamer with at least ½ inch of space between each one. Cover the steamer and put it in a large skillet or wok with about an inch of boiling water.

Steam the dumplings for 10 minutes. Remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve them hot.
