How to Complete the Beach Bowl Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy

The paths and items Mario must find in the Beach Bowl Galaxy are underwater. Mario must first be taught to swim by the penguins on the beach before he can navigate the treachery and puzzles of the Beach Bowl undersea.

Instructions

Sunken Treasure

1. Collect the Star Chips on the small, underwater island with the penguins. Then take the Launch Star.

2. Follow the walkway upward until you reach the switch. Ground-pound it, and take the temporary steps that form.

3. Pound the next switch at the top and wall-jump the two walls that form until you reach the very top. Break the crystal there with spin jumps to get the Star.

The Swim Test

4. Talk to the large penguin at the dock. He'll give you the swim test to retrieve the golden shell.

5. Dive underwater and look for the penguins swimming in a line. Spin attack the one holding the shell.

6. Ride the shell back to the instructor penguin. He'll give you the second Star for passing the test.

The Undersea Cavern

7. Dive underwater again, and find the penguin in front of the cracked stone wall. Grab a shell and hit the wall with it to open the cavern. Make sure you have enough air before taking the tunnel.

8. Swim through the cavern (watch out for the bats) until you reach the fence. Break the boxes on the right to reveal the hole on the other side. Pound the switch there to get the Launch Star to the next planet.

9. Avoid the Thwomps and rolling blocks as you follow the path. The rolling blocks have a "mouth opening"--if they roll over you on that spot, you won't get hurt.

10. Take the green platform shortcuts whenever you can. They will vanish, and you will have to long jump some of them.

11. Reach the crystal after the last green platform, guarded by one last Thwomp. Break the crystal for the Star.
