A summer cheerleading camp is the perfect time for the entire cheerleading squad to get a jump-start on the new year. Campers who attend a summer cheerleading camp work together to learn new cheering skills and develop better teamwork.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Experience one of the longest running cheerleading camps at the Pine Forest Cheerleading Camp (see Resources below). Jerry Preschutti's camp has helped junior and senior high cheerleading squads work on cheers, routines and dance moves for over 35 years in Olyphant, Pennsylvania.

  2. Step 2

Enjoy quality lodging while you attend cheerleading camp by going to the Cheer Excellence camp at the Holiday Inn in Roanoke, Virginia (see Resources below). Cheer Excellence features a short 2-day or 3-day camp packed with cheering instruction. Cheerleaders learn partner stunting, chants, jumps and motions.

  3. Step 3

Learn cheerleading skills from the 2007 National Cheerleading champions at the UCF Cheerleading Camp in Orlando, Florida (see Resources below). The 3-day UCF camp targets children from first to ninth grade. During this UCF day-camp, campers learn tumbling, stunts, pyramids, dances and cheers.

  4. Step 4

Attend one of the largest cheerleading camp programs in the USA at an Elite Cheerleading camp (see Resources below). Elite camps take place in 40 states and instruct over 10,000 cheerleaders every summer. With over 25 years of hosting 1-, 2- and 3-day camps, the instructors at Elite Cheerleading know how to get the most out of cheerleading squads in a short time by focusing on the latest styles and techniques in cheerleading.

  5. Step 5

Go to the University of Texas in Austin to work on cheerleading with instructors from the Universal Cheerleaders Association (see Resources below). Campers will improve skills in all facets of cheerleading with a special focus on safety and spotting techniques. Choose camps during June, July or August and enjoy indoor sessions away from the heat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Organize a few squad meetings prior to going to camp. This will permit members of your squad to get to know each other ahead of time.
  • Coaches can usually attend summer cheerleading camps with the team for free.
