If you have ever tried to do a wheelie or a stoppie and keep wrecking or can't seem to get your front tire off the ground, these steps will fix that. If this doesn't work, then you are probably a bad rider or you have a weak bike..

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dirtbike
  • Gear
  • A place to ride
  • people to ride with
  • a first aid kit incase of an emergency.
  1. Step 1

Make sure that when you ride it is a nice day and warm outside unless you like to challenge yourself, like I do, when you try to do stunts like wheelies and stoppies, you may spin out or your front tire might wash out from under you.

  2. Step 2

Get on all of your riding gear so that you will be safe if you crash. If you don’t have any gear, at least wear a helmet and just a regular pair of steel toed boots. If you’re riding in the woods, these boots will protect your feet.

  3. Step 3

ALWAYS make sure your bike has plenty of gas before you go riding so you will be able to make it back home. You don’t want to have to push your bike back home, especially if it’s a big bike and it’s heavy.

  4. Step 4

Start your bike. If it’s cold outside, then you might want to try and put the choke on mid way. If it will not start, then put it on full choke. If it’s an electric start, it should start right up unless your battery is dead or your bike is out of gas. If it’s a kick start, then you might be kicking your bike for a while trying to get it to start.

  5. Step 5

Once you get it started, you might want to let it sit and idle for a little while before you take off. If the idle is messed up, which would have something to do with your carborator, then keep it at a slight throttle by twisting the throttle to warm it up. Then, hold your clutch lever in, shift into 1st, ease out the clutch lever, and take off.

  6. Step 6

Ride around for a while so that you will get a good feel for your bike, and make sure you are comfortable with your bike and know you have good balance, because you need balance before you can start trying a wheelie or a stoppie.

  7. Step 7

To do a wheelie you want to get to an open spot so you won’t hit anything. Get at a steady pace but not too fast. Make sure you are in a low gear like 1st or 2nd. Then, lean forward so you will have enough force to pull the front tire off the ground. Then, pull back while twisting the throttle on your bike and your front tire should start rising off the ground. If not then your bike is weak. If it gets too high, let off the throttle, lean forward, and tap your back brakes

  8. Step 8

To do a stoppie you do basically the same thing only you shift your weight a different way. To do a stoppie you want to kind of lean back a little bit to get the force to bring your back tire off the ground. Then, hit your front brakes and at the same time shift your weight forward. If you start to go too far forward, then jerk back really hard so you won’t tip over.

  9. Step 9

If you follow these steps then you should be doing wheelies and stoppies in no time.

Tips & Warnings
  • When doing a wheelie, don’t slam on your throttle or you’ll be on your back.
  • When doing a stoppie, don’t lean to far forward.
  • Remember that it’s not the bike; it’s the rider!
  • Don't try to do wheelies in tight woods trails or you could wreck.
