Step1
Wash your horses hair. It's easier to handle that way. (plus, once you undo it, it's pretty to)
Step2
Once it's washed, comb it to detangle any hair. With horses, the hair can get pretty dangled.
Step3
Start your braiding at the top of the head: Separate a good amount of 3 areas of hair, starting at the head area, either with your comb or fingers.
Step4
If you'd like, you can recomb those sections. If not, that's fine to.
Step5
Taking the section of hair that is in the middle of your 3 sections, cross it UNDER to the right, while taking the right section over that. It's a cross action.
Step6
Take the left section and cross it OVER the right section [the piece you just crossed over] -this is another cross action. That piece should be in the middle now.
Step7
Straighten out any hairs that are dangled, with your fingers. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it as you go. (braiding hair other than your own, is easier sometimes)
Step8
repeat the steps over and over until you've reached your desired length of braid. (over and under- cris cross) all the way down until you reach the backside of the horse.
Step9
Tie it off with a rubber band, string..etc...if you'd like. That's your choice.
Step10
Finished!
Step11
If you wanted to have the horse have more than one braid on the neck, you will have to do it in parts. By the time you're done, you will be at the backside of the horse (lower part of the neck) with a bunch of braids, but this way is for one single braid from top to bottom.
Step12
For the horse tail, you'll only have to do that once for a big braid, if you want or you can do it more than once, to give it many smaller braids. For an active horse, you may want to try the optional tip.
