Things You'll Need:
- Passport: of course, you are traveling you can’t get on the plane to go to another country.
- Traveling documents: in your own country, at least you would need ID Card or driver’s license. (But passport is the best to take it with you)
- Flight information: It seems like we don’t need a real ticket anymore. E-ticket is more popular in these days. You want to print and keep your flight information handy.
- Phone Numbers of your contacts: Airline, hotels, local people that you want to contact, you need to keep everything handy.
- Medicine: If you sick or not. It is always good to have a few pills with you. Keep the medicine that you know what you are taking.
-
Step 1
Study the place before you go: Internet is a great resource to find the information you needed. At the same time, you might want to check some information from people you know who had been or lived in that place before. Find local people, you want to have local contact that you can trust. They know what is best for you and they could help you in case you got lost or need some helps.
-
Step 2
Search for the best deal on the internet: There is always a good option. You just need some time to sit in front of your computer and do some research about the place to stay. If you know some host family, that would be the best. But most of the time people travel for pleasure, you might want to check more with your travel agency or online website. The deal is always there, you need to step forward to find it.
-
Step 3
Find the map for the place you go: Ladies, many might not like to the read maps. Why not? Train yourself a little bit, you will be it is not difficult at all to have a map handy in your purse. It helps you to locate where you are and where you want to you. From my personal experience, maps are always good. I feel like I have control of my pace. I found that I might get lost but you can always ask local people in case you got lost, just by showing where you want to go on the map. Surprisingly, you will find how many people do want to help you get there.
-
Step 4
Check out the way to commute: How are you going to get to the hotel from the airport? What is you plan to get around the city you go. The best advice for me is the internet. You can search just about everything you want. Click/type the name of the city, it will just come up on the internet then you can search for the map or traveling information. It is amazing how people would provide this kind of resources just by click on the computer. You have to use it, take advantage of it. Most of them are free anyway.
-
Step 5
Pack light: I think this is a key to help you move faster. You may think it is all right because you can check in your luggage to the airline anyways. Well, that is true but packing light is helping you a lot to move around easier. In case that you are going to the new place, you would appreciate more if you have just one or two luggage.
-
Step 6
Check the weather: Find out a little bit how the weather is like during the time you go to the place. Again, internet would be the best resource. I always check at www.weather.com/ It gives me an ideal about the clothes I should bring during my trip.
-
Step 7
Grab your purse at all times: No matter where you go, there are always people who want to steal from you. I live in Italy, local people warn me all the time when I travel by public transportation. Local people themselves experience the pickpocket especially from the their own people. You really have to watch it. Be very careful at all times.

Step 8
8. Check the local restaurant from the front desk at the hotel you stay: I have received a lot of good suggestions from the hotel receptions. Try not to eat something weird while you are traveling alone. It is too risky if you get sick while on vacation. Eat safe, play safe, you want to eat something you are familiar with. Fast food is not a bad choice. But of course, you do want to try some nice local dinner. Substitute sometimes with simple dish, you want to know what you are eating when you are by yourself.
