Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Eat at your level. Much of the food in KoL has a level requirement, and higher level food is generally (but not always) better. If you are Level 9, the Level 9 food you can eat is almost certainly preferable to the level 2 food in your inventory.
Step2
Buy it! The mall is filled with food, much of it quite decent at minimum prices. Newbies should grab some low-price flavored pizza, or spiced up burritos. Fruitcake and knob pasties are the best Level 1 foods, but pasta dishes will likely be the best buys for the mid levels.
Step3
Cook your own! Pastamancers can cook simple pasta dishes with a tomato or spices or herbs. If you have saucecrafting, you can add a reagent to a mushroom, sausage, or cheese to get a delicious pasta sauce. And even if you aren't a pastamancer, anyone dressed as a bugbear can buy the ingredients for pie crusts. And everyone loves strawberry pie.
Step4
If you can't use the mall, know where to find things. If you want pasta additives, hunt in the Knob Kitchens. Spooky mushrooms (cook with a grue egg) are in the Spooky forest. And the hippy store has all the pie fillings you'll need.
Step5
Don't miss the Mein Event! Pastamancers can make chow mein, lo mein, and even hi mein. These are some of the best foods in the game, and come in many varieties. They take effort to create, but there are always plenty for sale in the mall.
Step6
Quest rewards are tasty. If you complete a teetotaler run, you will get some delicious pate your following run. Cooking your grue egg will give you a rare omelette best eaten in the dark.
