How to French Braid

The French braid has to be the first formal looking hairstyle that most girls want to learn or hear about early in their junior high school years. It is not just for the pre-teen, it can be turned into a fashionable style for women of all ages. So let’s get started and learn to braid…

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Tail comb
• Fastener- rubber band, preferably one that is coated.
• A mirror to stand in front of

1. Comb the hair making sure that there are no tangles.
2. Create a triangle in the center front hair line
3. Divide this triangle into 3 even sections (one to the right, one to the left , one in the center)
4. Holding the hair flat to the head away from the face, take the right section of hair and place it over the center piece, it becomes the center.
5. take the left section of hair and lay it over the center, it becomes the center.
6. Now when you bring the right side over the center this time you will be adding hair in.
7. When adding hair into your sections you will want to make sure that you take the same amount of hair from each side as you work your way down the side of head. Your section should be clean and go from the front hair line to the edge of the braid itself.
8. Repeat on the left side. Continue taking section going from right to left, adding hair into your sections.

Tips & Warnings

• Hold the hair close to the head so that your braid is more fitted to the head in the finish.
• When adding hair make sure it is an even amount from both sides.
• For a loose braid lift the hair away from the scalp when adding hair in.
• In the nape area, make sure to hold close to the head so that the braid does not lift away from head in this area.
• After adding hair into each section, smooth the hair with a comb, to keep the braid clean.
