Nothing is so wonderful as thoughts of spring coming and the celebration of Easter. If you are wanting to make decorations for this fun time, why not try to make an Easter bunny out of torn paper? This bunny project is like collage, where the artist picks, glues and assembles scraps of materials on a background. A good way to recycle is to make a collage. So, watch the mailbox for junk mail and white paper scraps like envelopes in which bills are sent.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper or white envelopes
  • Samples of wallpaper
  • Cotton balls
  • Construction paper scraps
  • Scissors, ruler, eraser and pencil
  • Colored pencils, crayons or markers
  • Glue stick
  1. Step 1

    Cut out the shapes described below after they are measured and drawn. To make a paper bunny and its various parts, you will need:
    One- 2.5"x2.5" square for its head;
    One-3.75"x4.75" rectangle for its body;
    Two-1.75"x2" rectangles for its feet;
    Two-1.5"x4.5" rectangles for its ears.

  2. Step 2

    Start with the square piece and draw a circle large enough that it will touch all sides of the square. The body of the bunny is made by drawing an oval shape on the rectangle. The feet are made by repeating this step on the two small rectangles. At the top of the rectangles remaining, make a mark, and then draw the ears downward, ending at either side in the corner. After you are done drawing, it’s time to create the shapes that you will use to make the bunny.

  3. Step 3

    Tear the shapes instead of cutting them to have a softer look for your bunny. By tearing the paper, it leaves a raggedy edge that some artists like to use. Take some scrap paper and practice on it before starting, and draw a circle again on a square so it will touch all sides. Hold the paper and tear it, pulling it toward you, trying to stay near the lines already drawn. Tear all the shapes out after practicing.

  4. Step 4

    Erase all pencil marks gently when finished. If you don't like the shape or size of a part, just try again and redraw it. Now, it's time to assemble by choosing a sample of wallpaper that has colorful, bright, spring-like hues for the background. Take the body and glue it near the center, attach ears behind head, and glue that shape to its body. Now, put its feet in place, and glue a cotton ball for the tail.

  5. Step 5

    Make your Easter bunny special anyway you like. You could add spots with crayons, change it to a different color or make a face for him, complete with whiskers! You could make blades of grass or cut out Easter eggs from scraps of construction paper or wallpaper. After gluing everything where you want it, I’m sure you'll have a happy Easter!
