Plant sage to deter root maggot flies and cabbage worms and to attract with its flowers beneficial insects to the garden.

Place sage throughout the vegetable and herb garden, where it can be a good neighbor to cabbage, tomatoes, carrots and strawberries, which flourish in its presence. It goes well with marjoram as well.

Avoid planting sage near cucumbers or rue. They don't make good neighbors.

Tips & Warnings
Give sage full sun and well-drained soil. You can sow seeds or plant from cuttings. Trim the plant back in spring to encourage branching and new growth.
