Editing something from a CD isn't really all that hard, as long as you have the correct hardware and software.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • CD/DVD player/burner
  • Editing software (such as Windows Movie Maker; Nero; Pinnacle Studio)

Edit a Radio Interview on a CD

  1. Step 1

First, insert the CD into your CD player/burner. (This is crucial. If you don't have at least a CD player, you're sunk. The following 'how-to' assumes you have the correct hardware installed on your PC.) Your settings on your PC should allow the CD to 'Auto Play.' If not, click on the 'Start' tab on your desktop, and then click on 'Computer.' Then look for the drive with the CD. Double-click to open it.

  2. Step 2

Secondly, look for 'Open file to view contents' or something close to this. Double-click here. When it opens, you will see the contents of the CD. Right click and click on 'Save-As'. Save to 'Documents.' Open it with a media software program.

  3. Step 3

Next, open up whatever video/audio making program you have. Most PCs come standard with Windows Movie Maker. (I'll use this as the editing software. I've added a link for downloading WMM at the bottom.) Find and click on it to open it. Next, look for the tap that says 'Import Audio.' This will open a new window. Look for the file you saved in 'Documents' and double-click on it. This will load it into Movie Maker.

  4. Step 4

Next, click-and-drag the file down to the bottom of the Windows Movie Maker where the time-bar is located. After that, it's as simple as cropping the file to suit your needs. When your finished editing, simply save it to wherever you like.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be patient and don't get frazzled. Make sure to back up your work as you go.
