Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Climb. If you have stairs in your house, climb them for no reason at all--just climb them. This will release endorphines that will make you feel full of energy again. When you are out, always climb the stairs if possible instead of using an elevator. Same goes when you're at work.
Step2
Walk. It is said that 15 minutes of winter sun is worth a half hour of summer sun. So take a walk, even if it is around your own driveway. Put your coat and boots on (you don't need boots if your driveway is shoveled) and walk. You'll be amazed at how good you feel.
Step3
Grocery Shop. Not only do you get the effects of walking and exercise, but you see different things than you do at home. When done, take your groceries to the house one bag at a time. Let your muscles get a little exercise, and you'll feel better.
Step4
Walk while you talk. Use your cordless phone or cell phone to communicate with friends and family. While you are on the phone, walk around your living room, your bedroom, your entire house. Not only do you get the benefit of communicating with others, but there's that little bit of exercise included, too. It all counts, and it all helps.
Step5
Reorganize. Take a look around your kitchen. Reorganize your shelves. How about your living room? Rearrange the furniture--just a piece or two--and you would not believe how great you'll feel. All the stretching and bending will do wonders for your back muscles.
Step6
Clean. When you vacuum, wash windows (from the inside), scrub floors and do laundry, you are getting a workout. Again, that workout releases endorphines into your brain which gives you an entire feeling of wellness.
Step7
Why not add in some fun activities such as dancing, taking the dog for a walk or play Frisbee if the weather is nice. Install a basketball hoop, and toss a few balls into that hoop. As long as you enjoy what you do and get up to do it, you are beating the winter blues.
