How to Solar Cook Broccoli and Rice Casserole

People won't believe you cooked this gooey, cheesy casserole by the heat of the sun (well, mostly, anyway). Serves four as a side dish.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1/2 c. minute rice
  • Solar oven
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 lb. American cheeses
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 c. chopped broccoli
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup

  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 c. chopped broccoli
  • 1 lb. American cheeses
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 c. minute rice
  1. Step 1

    Preheat solar oven for about 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    Heat butter over a medium flame on a conventional stove, and then add onion.

  3. Step 3

    Sauté for a few minutes, until the onion begins to clear, and then add broccoli and celery and sauté until all vegetables are tender.

  4. Step 4

    Combine the vegetable mixture with the rest of the ingredients.

  5. Step 5

    Pour into large pot with lid.

  6. Step 6

    Sprinkle with paprika.

  7. Step 7

    Place in solar oven for one hour or until cheese is melted.
