Instructions

    • 1

Rinse each empty can thoroughly immediately after use in the sink. This will wash away all of the sugar and other mess that can attract bugs and other pests.

    • 2

Shake the can out to remove as much liquid as possible. Wipe the outside of the can dry with a dish towel.

    • 3

Crush the can flat. First squeeze the sides of the can to make it easier to crush. Then flatten it with a can crusher or by stomping it on the ground.

    • 4

Keep the flattened cans in a lined trash can reserved exclusively for aluminum. Take the cans to the recycling center as soon as the bag becomes full.

Tips & Warnings

  • Call around to find an aluminum recycling center that pays for aluminum. Be sure to ask for their rates, because one center may pay more than others.

  • If you stomp your cans flat, do it outdoors on concrete or another hard surface. This can damage your interior floors, particularly linoleum floors.
