Homemade gifts for friends and neighbors don’t have to be complicated. Inexpensive items can be transformed into cute, clever items with little or no effort. You don’t have to be extremely crafty or creative to make an attractive Christmas drum for someone during the holiday season

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Felt (optional)
  • Ribbon or fabric cord
  • Adhesive
  • Can of nuts (any size)
  1. Step 1

Cover your can with patterned paper or felt material. Make sure the covering is securely fastened to the can.

  2. Step 2

Cut out a circle to cover the lid of the can and glue it on top.

  3. Step 3

Adhere the ribbon or cord to the sides of the can in a zigzag pattern (going up and down) around the base of the nut can.

  4. Step 4

Print a greeting or the words of the “Drummer Boy” Christmas song and place it on top of the can.

  5. Step 5

Add any extra embellishments or finishing touches to the gift, and then give it to someone special during the Christmas holiday season.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can do different variations of this drum and use it for other occasions or holidays. Change the colors and patterns to meet your needs.
  • Try gluing a decoration on the type like a holly berries or mistletoe to give the drum some character.
  • Use hot glue or a strong adhesive to glue the items onto the can; especially if you are covering it with felt or another type of fabric.
