How to make a Faux Bow for a Scrapbook Embellishment

Paper bows can have so many possibilities when it comes to scrapbooking. You can use the bows to embellish layouts, cards and so much more. Paper and adhesive is all you need to craft a beautiful, versatile embellishment.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Scrapbook paper (cardstock or patterned paper)
• Paper trimmer
• Adhesive
• Stamps and ink
• Scrapbook embellishments (brads, stickers, rub-ons, etc; these are optional)

1. Cut three strips of paper with your paper trimmer. You can make them whatever width you want, but 1” to 2” works well for most projects.
2. Cut one of the paper stripes in half so it is exactly half the length of the other two strips. Typically for a scrapbook layout you want to cut your strips 12” in length.
3. Take the one of the long strips of paper and fold it so that each side slightly overlapped in the middle of the paper strip (this makes the “bow” portion of you faux bow)
4. Now attach your bow to one of the long strips of paper. Glue it exactly where you want your bow; either in the middle of on one side of the paper strip (left or right).
5. Next take your short paper strip and fold it over the top of the bow in the center. Use a glue dot or foam dimension to keep the paper strip in place.
6. Then place your custom bow on a scrapbook layout, card or gift bag for a fabulous embellishment.

Tips & Warnings

• You can use glitter, rub-on letters, stamps and more to decorate your bow and add some flair to the faux bow embellishment.
• Using patterned or textured paper is a quick, easy way to craft a bow that coordinates with the colors of your project.
• Self adhesive jewels, eyelets or brads are another way to decorate your faux bow to make it unique.
