File folder shapes have become somewhat of a trend in the paper crafting and scrapbooking industries. The square folder with a tab on the top or middle is an attractive shape for paper creations. A file folder greeting card is a fun way to create your own style or card.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • File folder template
  • Adhesive
  • Scrapbook embellishments (stamps, stickers, die cuts, ribbon, metal embellishments, etc.)
  • Paper trimmer
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Using scissors or a swivel blade (if you are using a cutting system template) cut out a file folder shape using a template or if you are really talented you can draw your own file folder shape free-hand.

  2. Step 2

Once you have created the filed folder shape then fold the paper so that it becomes the actual folder.

  3. Step 3

Now you are ready to decorate the greeting card with patterned paper, stamps, stickers, rub-ons, brads, ribbon and more.

  4. Step 4

Feature the greeting on the outside with a “Happy Birthday” stamp, “Congratulations” rub-on, or a “Merry Christmas” sticker.

  5. Step 5

    Include a personal message inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a unique twist you can make a pocket inside the folder card and slip a gift card or some money into the pocket for a special surprise.
  • If you are going to use pattern paper to cover the entire card then it might be easier to glue the paper onto the base of the card before cutting out the file folder shape.
