The best way to get started here is by visiting your local consignment and resell shops. These types of stores can be found all over the country. This will be your first stop and where you will find your baskets (or containers) to fill. Don't stop at your usual idea of a "basket". There are literally hundreds of items you could use for gift baskets. Such as planters, ornate bowls, metal buckets, etc. These items work really well for themed baskets. Use the planters or buckets for a "Gardener's Gift Basket" or a beautiful bowl for a "Home Warming Gift Basket" and the list goes on and on.

For the best way to fill your containers, I highly recommend visiting your local $1 Shop. You can really find great items that will fit into almost any themed basket at these shops, and of course, for only $1 each! Also, don't overlook the option of the clearance areas your normal retail stores. You can sometimes find items for less than $1.

Once you have your container and the themed items to fill it, the last item you'll need is your "filler" material. Filler is used to fit between your basket items and take up any space that isn't being used to make the basket appear fuller. You can use a wide arrange of fillers, from hand towels for a "Bathroom Basket" to faux moss in your "Gardener's Basket" again, all of these items can be found at your $1 Shops, Consignment and resell shops.

To sell your baskets, think of any targeted market that would enjoy themed baskets and then make a brief call just explaining what you can offer, send out some post cards, post flyers, etc.
