Plan your weekly menus and shop smart for successful weight loss. You'll find you'll eat less, purchase healthier foods, and lose more weight if you shop smart at the grocery store.

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Calendar
  • Recipes
  1. Step 1

    Make a list of your favorite recipes. Just make sure they are ones that are healthy for you, so eating them will help you reach your goal, not push you further from it.

  2. Step 2

    Compile a book of easy recipes. It's always good to have several recipes on hand that contain simple ingredients and take less than 30 minutes so you're not tempted to eat while you wait for your main meal. You'll also be less tempted to eat fast food on the run, which means you'll have more success at weight loss.

  3. Step 3

    Schedule a time to plan your weekly menu and then plan a time to shop. Shop smart by building your healthy menus around the sale items for the week.

  4. Step 4

    Try one new recipe a week. Variety is "the spice of life"!

  5. Step 5

    Put the money you're saving (from not buying junk food) into a non-food reward. A massage, a new article of clothing, a novel, or some pretty jewelry are just a few reward suggestions.

  6. Step 6

    Ask the manager of your local grocery store to stock items you would like to purchase but don't yet see on the shelves.

  7. Step 7

    Stick to your menus! When you shop smart and eat healthy meals, you have a greater chance of successful weight loss.

  • Something to remember - when your body is in balance and you are eating healthy foods, the cravings you have for sweets or junk food will, over a relatively short period of time, stop!
