Step 1
Travel during off-peak times. If you have vacation time with your job, plan your trip to Hawaii in between September and November. This three-month stretch offers the cheapest prices for your accommodations and several activities as well.
-
Step 2
Use free miles if you have them. The biggest cost attached to a Hawaiian vacation is your flight and your accommodations. If you don't have any free miles, try getting a flight with one stop to reduce the price.
-
Step 3
Stay at a bed and breakfast. Forget about the resorts and the $150 to $500 a night stays. If you are going to afford a vacation to Hawaii, the Volcano Bed and Breakfast on the Big Island has rates from $49 a night.
-
Step 4
Buy groceries. Eating out is always an expensive adventure when you go on vacation. Going to the local store and buying groceries for the week is definitely another way to afford a vacation to Hawaii. Make yourselves breakfast and lunch. Then, go out for dinner. That could save you $400 to $500 for the week.

on 11/6/2009 Mom and dad were stationed there with my brother Thomas. This was when I moved back with my sister and real mom (I was about 14). It seems lovely in pics, but I am not too fond of the ocean for some reason. I'd prefer to be up in the mountains. :) Smart ideas that could be used for any vacation :) lol @ Francisfour
