Ken is facing Buiu in a penetration-style stance. He leads with his opposite hand as his lead leg.

    Step 2

He has to be close to Buiu in order to penetrate. Noticing a short distance to Buiu's left leg Ken lowers his level and drops his right knee behind Buiu's left heel. He keeps his head up as he comes in.

  3. Step 3
    Step 3
    Step 3

Ken brings his left hand to Buiu's inner left heel and posts with his right hand on the mat. Ken's head and shoulder are tight on Buiu's upper thigh.

Ken now turns the corner by pivoting on his right knee and following with his left trail leg.

Ken, using his right hand as a post comes up and places Buiu's left foot toward his own hip as he runs around toward the back of Buiu.

  6. Step 6
    Step 6
    Step 6

Ken searches for the far ankle as opposed to the far hip. Many are successful grabbing the hip, but for many the hip is too powerful so circling toward the leg essentially takes away your opponent's hip.

  7. Step 7
    Step 7
    Step 7

Ken slowly crawls up Buiu's body, not allowing Buiu to turn his hips and face him.

  8. Step 8
    Step 8
    Step 8

He remains under the arms, again not leaving room for Buiu to turns his hips.
