Bias strips can be hard to cut--this is a simple uncomplicated technique.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric approximately 24" square
  • Iron
  • Rotary mat and cutter
  • Ruler
  1. Step 1

Prepare fabric to make a center mark--fold laterally and press. Then fold opposite direction and press. This will leave you with a clear center.

  2. Step 2

Open fabric lay out on mat. Fold points to center making a simple envelope form. When complete it will look like four triangles with a nice square side.

  3. Step 3

Line the ruler up on one of the straight edges and cut with rotary cutter into 2 inch strips. You now have a nice stack of perfectly cut bias strips.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is not suitable for one way patterns.
  • Always handle your rotary cutter carefully as they are extremely sharp.
