Ever wonder how to manage your digital media on your computer? Or what to do when that "Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard" box appears? This brief guide will help you along the way to better using this Windows tool.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Digital Media Card
  • USB Cable
  • Digital Camera
  • Digital Card Reader
Step1
Scanner and Camera Wizard start screen Decide which media you need to transfer to your computer and then collect it accordingly. You may need to connect a USB cable or insert a digital media card.
Step2
Know that a dialog box will appear when the media card is inserted or the USB cable is connected. If this has not been done before, you will see a list of choices. For the easiest possible transfer, check the "always use this program for this action." (Meaning, Scanner and Camera Wizard). That way each time you insert media or connect the cable, this wizard will start automatically.
Step3
Select "copy the photo (or scans) to a folder on my computer." This is usually sorted by date and then labeled by event, if preferred. Organization is key here to finding them at a future date. Usually they "land" in "My Pictures" which is inside the "My Documents" folder on the computer. (If you are using Windows Vista, then drop the "My" from the folder name.)
Step4
Check the boxes of photos to download.
