First let me tell you that there are two specifically different types of Tofu, and choosing the right one can make or break a dish you use it in. If you are about to say something like, “Oh no, not me, I don’t eat Tofu!” you need to hear this. Today’s Tofu is probably not the same as yesterday’s when you tried it. Perhaps you got a terrible recipe and got turned off on your very first try. Let me ask you, have you ever tried something once, didn’t like it, but tried it again anyway? Well here’s your chance to do it again, but like it the second time around. If that didn’t convince you to at least try, how would you feel if I said that Tofu is high in protein and contains 10.1 grams of it in just one cup? That the daily recommended protein intake is 56 grams for most men and 46 grams for most women; so even a half-cup or about 4 oz. is more then you even need for the day. It is better than milk, eggs, and even ground beef. There are many more ways to convince you to try Tofu, learn more below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tofu of your choice of brands.

Step1
Tofu Salad Tofu is naturally Low in Calories and contains only about 94 calories per serving; where that portion of ground beef contains 331 calories and 4 oz. of cheese would be 320 calories.
Step2
Meaty Dinner What about the Fat and Cholesterol content of your diet? One half-cup serving of raw tofu contains 5 grams of fat; where a half cup of Ground Beef has about 15 grams of fat, and just one egg has 5.5 grams of fat.
Step3
Cheesey Casserole Are you concerned about your bones and getting enough Calcium? Did you know that one half-cup serving of firm tofu contains about 227 milligrams of calcium? That is 22% of the Recommended Daily requirement. That it is packed with Iron with it was made so be sure to read the label if you're concerned. Silken tofu contains approximately 133 mg, again depending on the brand.
Step4
Tofu Burger Are you Iron poor? Well one half-cup serving of firm tofu contains about 1.82 mg of iron. The Recommended Daily Requirement for women is 18 mg and 8 mg for men. Comparatively, one McDonalds Hamburger contains only 15% of what is required daily for most adults, so think of how many you will need to meet the benefits of only half a cup of Tofu. Then starting thinking of the calories and fat you are adding to do that.
Step5
Chocolate Cheesecake DESSERTS
Japanese brands of Tofu are usually best selected for desserts. They have a lighter consistency, more like custard. They are heavenly with chocolate, fruit, or other dessert type fillings and toppings.
Step6
Spicey Bites FINGER-FOODS and Appetizers
Chinese Tofu is best for finger foods, appetizers, etc. It has a firmer yet spongy texture, and absorbs sauces and flavorings very well.
Step7
Tofu Stir Fry MEATS
Good substitutes for meat are the lighter brands with less fat. They are great in stir fry’s, for it’s even consistency throughout; and in desserts or even quiches.

on 2/26/2008 What a great idea for an article and maybe even a book, who knows! I learned so much just in these few paragraphs.

For example, it could help with my iron! I love custard, and now I can have it without the guilt! Tofu appears to have everything I need. Thank you!
