Step 1
Start early. It is important to start teaching them about their bodies and having respect for themselves as soon as they are able to talk. Let them know that their private parts are private. That no one should touch them unless it is a doctor, nurse or you. Let them know if anyone, family member, parent or stranger tries to touch them in an improper way that they should tell you immediately.
-
Step 2
Let your daughter know what your moral beliefs are about sex. If you believe that she should stay abstinent until marriage let her know that. It may be unrealistic today to expect that, but if it is your moral belief let her know that.
-
Step 3
Let her know that she should have respect for her body and that no one has the right to pressure her into doing anything that she doesn't want to. If a boy loves her he will wait. If he thinks he has to have sex and goes somewhere else to get it, he isn't worth it. Remind her of all the sexually transmitted diseases that are out there. That not only are some of them incurable, unsightly and uncomfortable, but AIDS is deadly. There are worse things than getting pregnant.
-
Step 4
Remind her that birth control is never %100. Pregnancy is devastating and their are enormous consequences to it. If you believe in abstinence but know that this is not likely to happen, let her know that she should be responsible for birth control. Never expect a boy to be responsible for it. Let her know that oral sex is sex too.
