Pinning your wedding hairstyle looks beautiful if you have naturally curly hair. It's a way to control your hair and create a gorgeous look with a half up, half down style. It's smooth around your face and curly in the back. Plus, it's perfect for wearing a hair piece or tiara.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fine-tooth comb
  • Hair wax
  • Bobby pins
  • Hairspray
  1. Step 1

Start with all the hair loose. Take a small section from the top of the head, a few inches wide and separate it from the rest. Pin that up temporarily to get it out of the way. Save it for last.

  2. Step 2

Lift some hair at the crown of the head and tease it underneath with a fine-tooth comb. This is called back-combing. It gives the pins a secure place to attach to.

  3. Step 3

Decide where you want the half up and half down hairstyle to start. It can be from the top of your ears or all the way back to an inch or two below the ears.

  4. Step 4

Gather the hair you want to pull up. Start with the left side first. Apply some hair wax to it to smooth it out.

  5. Step 5

Comb through the hair with your fingers. Your goal is to smooth it out and get rid of fly-aways.

  6. Step 6

Twist the hair into a small knot on the crown of your head. Attach it by placing bobby pins into the knot. Use as many as necessary to secure it. Do the same thing with the hair on the right side of the head.

  7. Step 7

Take the top pieces of hair that you set aside earlier. Tie it into a knot, pulling to allow for some height on the top of your head. Secure it with bobby pins and spray with hairspray. Add your embellished pins, bridal tiara or veil just above the knots.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your hair is dry. It's easier to style if it already has some product in it.
