Step 1
Hold a single card face down in your right hand. The rest of the deck is in your left hand as this move is to present a card at the end of a trick. Learning to twirl one card in the right hand while holding the deck in the other hand is part of the skill of the twirl move.
-
Step 2
Use your ring finger to find the balance point of the card. This means balancing the card on your finger close to the center of the card until you can do so without having the card fall off. Your middle finger is underneath the card.
-
Step 3
Place your thumb on top of the card in a similar position to the middle finger to act as a clamp.
-
Step 4
Have the forefinger underneath the card closed to the middle finger. The forefinger should just rest in this position until the twirl movement; it is not to act as either a balance or a clamp.
-
Step 5
Twirl the card by keeping the middle finger in position, pushing the forefinger along the card to make it move at the same time as you release the thumb from the top. The middle finger becomes the pivot upon which the card turns. This very fast movement may take a little practice to coordinate.
-
Step 6
Stop the card spinning by clamping the thumb back down on the top of the card.
-
Step 7
Flip the card over to reveal to the audience the card's face.
