Step 1
Hold the disc with a two-fingered grip. To achieve this, squeeze the disc between your thumb and your index and middle fingers.
-
Step 2
Prepare a thumber shot by switching your grip so your thumb faces forward and runs along the inner lip of the disc.
-
Step 3
Step forward with the leg opposite your throwing arm. At the same time, cock your arm back and prepare to throw the disc.
-
Step 4
Throw the disc out and up over the obstacle like you'd throw a baseball. The key to the tomahawk technique is to use an overhand throw, so keep the disc moving on a straight path over your shoulder, not out to the side.
-
Step 5
Follow through your shot with a full arm swing and upper body rotation. This ensures you get the most power and greatest accuracy out of your throw.
