Things You'll Need:
- Assembled tent
- Rain fly, with attached hooks
-
Step 1
Determine whether the rain fly needs any assembly. Some models contain smaller tent rods or poles to give them structure, while other simply go over the tent without any rods. If your rain fly has rods, insert and secure them first.
-
Step 2
Locate the front of your rain fly. Many have a logo at the front to help you identify which way to orient it on your tent. If your rain fly lacks a logo, observe it carefully to line up its overall shape and straps or hooks with your tent. You should be able to find the front easily since there's only one way the rain fly fits the shape of the tent.
-
Step 3
Attach the rain fly to your tent using its hooks, which fasten to your tent stakes or loop, depending upon the style of your tent. There are hooks on each corner of the rain fly, generally attached to elastic straps, which usually correspond to the corners of your tent.
-
Step 4
Check the rain fly to make sure it's secure once you've fastened each corner. Your tent is now protected against the elements.
