Known for its emphasis on kicking techniques, Tae Kwon Do is a challenging form of martial arts. One of the more powerful kicks is the mid-air front snap kick. The information below will help you learn how to perform this kick.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin in the on-guard position. Flex your knees and squat down slightly with your feet shoulder width apart and your right foot slightly in front of your left foot. Keep your hands up, ready to protect your face and body.

  2. Step 2

Jump straight up when performing a mid-air front snap kick. Your body should not drift to either side or move forward or backward. When you land, your feet should be in almost the same place as when you began the move.

  3. Step 3

Drive your left knee up and turn your left hip toward your opponent as you jump. Keep your knee pointed at the target. At the height of the jump, fully extend the left leg to complete the snap kick with your left foot. You should hit your opponent with the ball of your foot. Snap the foot back in quickly to maintain your balance as you prepare to land.

  4. Step 4

Land on your right leg after completing the front snap kick.

  5. Step 5

Concentrate on making the kick as powerful as possible. By jumping as you perform the move, you're generating much more force compared to a front snap kick done on the ground. In addition, you'll receive more points during competitions if you perform kicks while jumping.
