Taekwondo uses the body's rotation to leverage deadly strong punches against opponents. The middle fore-fist punch is one of the fastest and most powerful of taekwondo's devastating hand strikes.

From Quick Guide: Earn a Taekwondo Black Belt
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a fist by bending your finger tips to touch the middle of your palm and then squeezing your hand tight. Wrap your thumb around the front of your fingers so it rests between your first and second knuckles.

  2. Step 2

Raise one hand in front of you with your knuckles up at about shoulder height. Place the other fist knuckles down against the hip on the same side of that hand.

  3. Step 3

Retract and rotate your raised fist and pull it in so that it ends up against your hip with your knuckles down. As you bring your raised arm in, extend and rotate your fist that's against your hip so that it punches outward and ends up at shoulder level.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the motion and try each time to better leverage the punching hand (that starts against your hip) against the retraction of your raised arm.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your torso centered but allow a slight snapping rotation of your shoulders as you execute the punch to glean more power out of your body movement.
  • Go for explosive speed to gain more power and to surprise your taekwondo opponents with the speed.
