The Cuddle Up is a really cute dance move and a good step to learn as part of basic beginning swing lessons. The Cuddle Up begins with the female partner turning in toward the male partner while holding on to both hands. Partners either stay in a cuddle or complete the full move in two 8-count cycles.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Complete several 8-count cycles before starting to learn the Cuddle Up turn lessons so that you get into the swing dance rhythm.

  2. Step 2

Instruct the male partner to indicate the turn by raising his left hand. The female partner will respond by raising her right hand in order to pass under the man's arm, but unlike the basic underarm turn the partners will continue holding both hands throughout the Cuddle Up turn.

  3. Step 3

Rotate your body to the left if you are the female partner, keeping your right hand above your head. During the first triple step, you should pass in front of your male partner's body with your back to him.

  4. Step 4

Position your body to the right side of your male partner during the second triple step and bring your arm down so that your right hand passes across the front of your body and your male partner's left hand passes across the front of his body.

  5. Step 5

Complete the rock step during the 7 and 8 counts while in the cuddle, side by side with bodies rotated slightly inward in a "V" shape. Come out of the Cuddle Up position by reversing the motion during the next 2 triple steps.
