Step 1
Remove the wheel to your vehicle to expose the caliper and braking system. Keep in mind everything in these steps is dependent on your make, model and year of vehicle. If you are unsure about anything, consult your vehicle repair manual for verification.
-
Step 2
Disconnect the parking brake line. This is located behind the wheel and caliper. Remove the retaining clip using a flat head screwdriver. Activate the parking brake, then disconnect the line and remove it from the vehicle. Place it somewhere safe so you don't lose it.
-
Step 3
Locate the caliper mounting bolt on the top of the caliper. This will require ratchet and socket, the size of socket depending on your particular vehicle, though most are 10 millimeters in size. It may also be an Allen or torque wrench, but check your repair manual if you are unsure which size and shape to use.

Step 4
Take the bolt completely out of the bolt hole and place aside in a safe place. Once the bolt is removed, you can rock the caliper out of the way, to the left of the wheel. This will allow access to the lower mounting bolt on the strut.
