Being in a band means that you have to practice and get prepared for any stage performance. The band also has to give the right visual cues to the audience while on stage in order to make the most of each performance.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Dress for the music you play. For any stage performance, the band must dress the part. This means giving the same cues visually as they do musically by not dressing in boots and huge belt buckles if they are a punk rock band.

  2. Step 2

Feed off of the crowd's energy and have a good time. The crowd will have fun when the band is full of energy and enjoying themselves. Listen to the cheers, and let it lift your spirits and feed your music.

  3. Step 3

Give the right visual cues during a stage performance by including the audience in the fun. Let them know with the microphone signal when to sing along; tell stories and ask the crowd how they're doing.

  4. Step 4

Portray the right stage persona, such as acting like a boy band if that's your style. You may confuse the audience if you try to be too demure or wholesome while screaming out lyrics about gun shots and fist fights.

  5. Step 5

Know your audience and their mentality. If you feel as though your music is generally popular, but you have a small niche of followers that is very alternative, it is best to play to the alternative crowd. The crowd at your shows can then have a more personal experience with the band they love.

  6. Step 6

Spice up your fashion for a stage performance. The sound at a live performance may not always be the best, so keep your audience engaged by making the most of your dress code and keeping them visually entertained.
