How to Blend Makeup for Halloween Special Effects

Use special effects makeup to finish the look of your Halloween costume by purchasing latex skin and other special effects makeup from costume and party stores. Use latex skin to create scars, gory eye balls, gushing wounds and creepy skin issues, and learn to blend special effect makeup so that it looks like a part of your natural skin. Practice using latex skin in order to make your makeup look believable.

Things You'll Need:

  • Latex skin special effects makeup
  • Plastic plate or tray
  • Cosmetic sponges
  • Concealer
  • Foundation
  • Colored makeup
  1. Step 1

    Use a cosmetic sponge to put a small amount of latex skin on a hard plastic surface. Make a very thin layer, and let it dry thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the latex from the plastic. Put a thin layer of latex skin on your face to adhere the piece of skin. Put the special effects skin layer in place.

  3. Step 3

    Apply additional latex skin to the edges of the of the wound on your skin. Gradually thin the latex as you move away from the wound so that the special effects makeup blends into your skin.

  4. Step 4

    Choose concealer or foundation to blend the color of the latex skin into your own skin. Spread a thin layer of concealer or foundation over the latex skin and onto your real skin.

  5. Step 5

    Blend the makeup into your skin with clean fingertips or a makeup sponge. Continue to blend until the makeup disappears into your skin.

  6. Step 6

    Utilize additional makeup to make bruises, scar tissue or other colored skin defects.
