Things You'll Need:
- Record demo
- Cover art
- Video recorder
- Actors and dancers
-
Step 1
Get a professional look with cover art. First impressions are lasting impressions. If you can afford an artist to create artwork for the front of your demo after you burned it, do it. You need to be listened to in order to be appreciated. A flashy front that catches the eye is one way. Once it's playing, the rest is up to you.
-
Step 2
Create a video. If you can get good quality sound from a live gig, you can to show the audience enthusiasm for your music. Video recoding is one type of record demo that incorporates a video.
-
Step 3
Send the studio copy, which is just the plain cover from the studio where you recorded the song. You simply hand write the title, your name, the group's name, your return address and contact information and the date it was recorded on the front.
-
Step 4
Entice the record producers to see you live if you know that you're going to perform for a friendly, enthusiastic group. See if you can arrange for a live viewing. It's another type of record demo that, while more difficult to get, is highly effective.
-
Step 5
Understand that there are several types of record demo videos. You can also create "play" that goes with the song. If you have friends that are great dancers, ask them to join the creation to make a different type of video.
