The carburetor on your moped controls the gas-to-air ratio in the engine. When you attach a moped carburetor to your moped, you need make sure it has a tight fit. If the carburetor is too loose, it could damage the part and the engine.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Slide the throttle cable through the elbow of the carburetor. There's small nut on some models that tightens the cable to the elbow piece.

  2. Step 2

Check the gasket for damage. The gasket ensures an airtight seal in the carburetor. A damaged gasket disrupts the fuel-to-air ratio and causes poor engine performance.

  3. Step 3

Slip the throttle cable through the spring into the large hole, and then slide it into the small hole to lock it in place.

  4. Step 4

Attach the choke slide to the rod. The grove on the choke slide lines up with the carburetor slide.

  5. Step 5

Line up the holes with the choke slide and spring, and push this into the bottom of the carburetor.

  6. Step 6

Screw the top of the carburetor to the bottom. Make sure the two pieces are snug and secure.

  7. Step 7

Align the carburetor with the intake manifold, and tighten the screw that holds the carburetor to the intake manifold. The carburetor and manifold fit together very tightly, so apply firm pressure when fitting the carburetor and manifold together.

  8. Step 8

Connect the fuel line, which slips over the post on the carburetor. Once you're sure that fuel is reaching the carburetor, start your moped and check that it's running smoothly.
