The interview portion of a beauty pageant is the key to sharing your true self with the panel of judges. It is important that you adequately prepare and properly dress to have a successful pageant interview. If you ace your interview, the judges will remember you favorably in the on-stage competitions.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the proper attire for your interview. A professional suit or dress that is modest and flattering in cut is your best bet for interview wear. Pay close attention to your hemline, especially if you will be seated during your interview. A short skirt is uncomfortable for the pageant contestant and the judges alike.

  2. Step 2

Familiarize yourself with current events and your bio sheet. Judges take the majority of the questions from your bio sheet, but other judges will ask about current topics in the news. Be knowledgeable about political and controversial issues as these are likely questions in your interview.

  3. Step 3

Optimize your speaking voice. Choose a pitch that is neither too high nor too low. If you have a childish high-pitched voice, speak with a lower pitch to seem more mature and professional. If your voice is low and raspy, try to lighten your pitch and speak with a softer tone. Eliminate filler words such as "um" and "well," which indicate a lack of confidence and poise.

  4. Step 4

Develop a specific area of interest. Often referred to as a platform, your area of interest gives you a topic to speak about that you feel passionate and are knowledgeable about. Develop your interest and expertise in this topic by volunteering or actively participating in the organization or field.
