An origami box makes a great gift for small items and you can make one quite easily. You can use any available paper such as newspapers, magazines, wallpaper samples or gift wrap paper. If you plan on putting somewhat heavier items in it, use a heavier paper. You can also make a set of three origami boxes of different sizes and stack them in each other.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Square origami paper
  1. Step 1

Lay down a square piece of origami paper with one of the corners pointing away from you. Name the top corner "A," the one to the right "B," the one to your left "C" and the bottom corner "D."

  2. Step 2

Fold and crease the paper in half lengthwise and then in half sideways. Unfold. This gives you the center point of the paper.

  3. Step 3

Take each corner and fold it into the center point. Crease and leave the corners there.

  4. Step 4

Make more crease guidelines by folding each straight edge into the center point, creasing it, and then unfolding it. Do this with all four sides.

  5. Step 5

Open corners "A" and "D" and lay them flat. You now have two straight edges with a point sticking out at each end.

  6. Step 6

Bring the two sides together at the places where the pointed corner meets the straight edges. They meet in the center, creating a 3D effect. Re-crease the lines that hold it there. Repeat at the opposite end.

  7. Step 7

Lock the pointed corner down over the top section right under it, allowing it to fold on over and lay flat in the bottom of the box. This completes one side of the box. Repeat this step with the other three sides and you have an origami box.
