Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Square origami paper
  1. Step 1

Structure the origami paper to create an origami bird in flight. Fold the square paper diagonally in half creating a triangle. Face the longest leg or the base leg of the triangle down.

  2. Step 2

Bend the triangle in half horizontally so that the top point falls below the base leg of the triangle. Half the paper once more vertically, so that the sides meet up to make a center crease. Then unfold.

  3. Step 3

Form the bird's main body, head and tail feathers. Lift the top flap triangle and fold in half with the top point below the base leg.

  4. Step 4

Fold that overhanging top point up just enough so that there's no more overhang. Turn down the very tip of that point again to make just a slight overhang below the base leg of the original triangle.

  5. Step 5

Give the bird wings by following the previously made crease along the vertical center line. The two edges should evenly meet.

Tips & Warnings
  • If using one-sided colored or decorative origami paper, begin with the plain side facing up.
