Hold the first match stick between your thumb and index finger in your right hand with each end pointing into your fingers.

Put the second match stick securely between your index and middle finger of the left hand. Keep just the tip between them, and keep the other end touching your thumb.

Position your hands so the back of your left hand is facing your audience.

Rotate your right hand so the toothpicks are perpendicular to each other. Tell the audience, you can make the toothpick in your right hand go through the other toothpick.

Move the toothpick in your left hand just slightly away from your thumb, still holding it securely with the index and middle fingers. Hide the movement from your audience behind the back of your hand.

Slide the toothpick in your right hand through the opening, and close the opening so it looks like the toothpick went through the other one.

Tips & Warnings
Practice the penetrating match stick trick in front of a mirror so you see exactly what your audience sees. You'll want to make sure you can't see the toothpick in your left hand moving.
Make sure the audience is sitting at eye level and directly in front of you. If they are anywhere else they may easily see the toothpick pull away from your thumb.
