If you're looking for a laptop, it's important to understand laptop features before you make a purchase. You can find laptops with a variety of convenient features, so it helps to know what you need.

  1. Step 1

    Know the basic functions of features like the fire wire port of your laptop. This allows laptop users to connect modern video cameras to record video footage to your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Learn all about the optical drive as you attempt to understand laptop features. Known as the CD or DVD burner, you should inspect it carefully to make sure it has the required features that you need.

  3. Step 3

    Look for a PCMCIA, also called the new PC express card slots. PC express card slots will allow you to use added features with your laptop later on.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm that you have a built-in Internet port and modem to insure that you have Internet access.

  5. Step 5
