Krav maga is one of the most powerful forms of martial arts ever developed. Originating in Israel, krav maga, or "close combat" in Hebrew, teaches students the hand-to-hand combat techniques used by Isreali military forces. While not considered a competitive sport, krav maga has become a popular self-defense method in the United States. The plug technique is just one example of how you can use krav maga to defend yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use the krav maga plug technique in order to block the arms of an attacker who is reaching for your neck. As in all martial arts, in order to successfully execute a technique, you must be constantly aware of your attacker's actions. Prepare for the plug at the first sign that he may reach for your neck.

  2. Step 2

Place your hands in a hook form. Place your fingers tight together, holding your thumbs in as well and curl your top knuckles down slightly to make a hook with your fists.

  3. Step 3

Reach up quickly as the attacker reaches out for your neck. Grip the top of her wrists and pull out and down, hard and fast. Continue the forceful motion, pulling your elbows all the way back to your sides to create as much force behind the plug technique as possible.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice the plug technique with a krav maga sparring partner to perfect the move. While this technique may sound easy in theory, it is much harder to execute in real life. Practicing until it becomes second nature can save you from being forced into a strangle hold during combat.
